How to Choose the Right Pyjama Size

Pyjamas should feel relaxed, not tight — but too big and they twist in the night. Here’s how to get the size right, especially when buying online or as a gift.

Start with your dress size

For most UK pyjamas, your usual dress size is the best starting point. Our satin sets come in UK 10, 12, 14 and 16.

Check the label vs the UK size

Much nightwear is made overseas, where sizes run smaller — so a UK 10 set may carry an XL label. Always go by the UK size the shop lists, not the letter on the label. See our size guide.

Between sizes?

Size up for pyjamas. A slightly looser fit is more comfortable to sleep in, especially with a button-front top.

Buying as a gift?

Look at a top she already wears, or choose her usual dress size. Keep the tags on so it can be exchanged.

Questions

Should pyjamas be a size bigger?

If you are between sizes, go up one — a relaxed fit is more comfortable for sleeping.

Why does my pyjama label say XL when I ordered a 12?

Pyjamas made overseas often use international sizing that runs smaller. Go by the UK size listed by the shop.
